I can't believe Thanksgiving is over with! Where did the time go? We had a really nice Thanksgiving. On Thursday we went to my aunt's house where I think everyone ate way to much. I know I did!! Preston wasn't to sure what to think at first, but began to relax after a while. He had been asking me for days how many people were going to be at dinner, and this was his first Thanksgiving away from his foster family. On Friday we got together with my aunt, uncle, and cousin from Joplin. Preston seemed much more at ease with them for some reason. Friday we ate lunch with my family and spent time looking at my biological grandfather's things that mom has always kept. Some of the things I had never seen. My mom doesn't talk about her dad much, so it's always emtional when she gets his things out. Fri evening I went to the movie with my mom and sister. We went to see "Walk The Line" which I must say was a very good movie!! I had been wanting to see it since the commericals started coming out, so I'm glad I got to. Unfortunately, I still do not have my car back. It was a bit hard to get places over the weekend especially since I had to rely on others to get me to the places.

Happy Thanksgiving

Life continues to be good around our house. Tomorrow we will celebrate our first Thanksgiving with Preston. I think it's going to be a lot of fun!! My whole big family won't be there, but at least he will get a taste of what our get togethers are like. My aunt, uncle, and cousin is coming from Joplin, so we will get to see them this weekend as well. It has been since the summer that I got to see them, so it's time to get together. The weekend should be fun and busy. I'm actually going to take a couple days off. I know I haven't taken any time off since my Grandma DeWeese died. I probably should take more time off, but I'm hoping to do so at Christmas. Of course this Thanksgiving I am very thankful that Rich and I have Preston. I can't believe how much we have and continue to be blessed with him being in our home. He's a great kid and I remind myself of that daily. I try also to tell him daily what a great kid I think he is. We are truely thankful!!

Happy Birthday to Me

Today was my birthday. I still get pretty excited when it's my birthday, although the day isn't as exciting as when I was a kid. The reason for my excitement on my birthday is that it is one more year that I have outlived the age the doctors said I would live to. I don't say that to be "mean", it's just nice to have done something people said I would never do!! My day was pretty good. Went shopping with my mom on Sat and that was fun. Rich had taken Preston hunting, so it worked out well. Rich wrote me a "birthday poem" which was totally sweet!! I had requested several things (since guys are bad at remembering certain events), and got half of them. Only one of the requested items would have cost anything, so he was "free" there....all he had to do was remember...lol! Today Preston and I spent the day together and the evening with my parents. My mom took him to buy me a birthday gift. It was so sweet when I opened it and he smiled! I think he also enjoyed helping my mom put frosting on the cake she had baked for us. It really was a nice day, and a fun day to just be "spoiled". I also heard great news in my Sunday School class and in church service that a friend of mine, his brother was getting the organ transplant surgeries he was needing this morning. His parents still live here in town, and I see my friend from time to time. What a blessing that is going to be for the family. I am praying that the transplant will be a success.
Unfortunately, tomorrow is another week of work, so I best be going to bed. I have been so tired again so I hope that doesn't mean anything bad. Will see the doctor again next month, so I will know what my blood test results are at that time.

Be Like Noah

I pasted this email from my friend Gina's blog. I thought it was WAY cool. Hope you enjoy!!

Noah, Great Noah!
Everything I need to know about life, I learned from Noah's Ark
Don't miss the boat.
Remember that we are all in the same boat.
Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
Build your future on high ground.
For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
Speed isn't always an advantage. The turtles were on board with the cheetahs.
When you're stressed, float a while.
Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.

Preston & I have been having some very interesting conversations lately! Nothing shocking, yet I am "shocked" at the things he knows, and has yet to learn. I love our conversations during the evening and I am learning a lot from him in the evenings. One of things I enjoy most about our conversations is that Preston is finally opening up to me and feeling (I think and hope) that he can talk to me about his past. He doesn't say to much in one setting, but he is starting to tell me bits and pieces of his life before I knew him. What an honor it is to have some one trust me that much that they would open up about a part of their life that no one else has heard!! I pray that as we continue to bond that Preston will continue to feel he can talk to me and share certain information. I may never have all my questions answered and that's ok. The main thing is that he feels he can trust me.
