Tis The Season

I always have trouble getting in the "mood" of the Christmas season every year. I don't know if it's the fact I am no longer a child, the fact Christmas has become so commercialized, or maybe a little of both. It just seems like evey year Christmas keeps changing and somehow that makes it harder to be in a celebrating mood.
Today's events helped a little bit. This afternoon Rich and I set up our Christmas tree today which is always interesting. The tree never looks like anything out of "Better Homes and Gardens". It's our tree though and we both enjoyed setting it up and decorating it. It was a beautiful day so it was a great day to work on the tree. Before tree decorating, Rich and I went to make our toy donation to Toys for Tots. I love being able to do this during the year knowing that some children are going to be having a good Christmas. I also got a couple children from one of the angel trees. I decided this year that I wanted to be able to do more for a couple kids in the community, so we got a boy and girl. Doing things like this make me feel so good. It also helps me to remember the reason for Christmas by being able to give to those who are less fortunate. Sometimes a day like today is all it takes. Being able to give to people is a good feeling!
