Does Life Ever Slow Down?

I can't believe how fast this summer has gone. My friend at work, Kerry and I were just talking about the fact that our summer camp for the kids will be over in two weeks! I think this is the fastest the summer has ever gone for me. I don't think life ever slows down!!
Rich and I continue to have our kiddo on the weekends. The goal is to have him moved in by the time school starts, so we have been trying to get things ready for him. Our weekend visits continue to go very well, and he really is an amazing young man! He makes me laugh a lot!! We have a lot of fun on the weekend and I can't wait for everyone to meet him. I know he has been having some trouble with being stressed about this whole big move. I can't even imagine what he's going through, I can only say that my own emotions have been of nervousness and excitement. Nervousness, because I want everything to smoothly, excitement because I am finally getting to adopt which is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I have to say that is will be and has been weird, becoming "mom" and being a case manager sometimes in his presence. All in all, things continue to go well and I am thankful for that! I have been doing a lot of praying about this, so far we have been blessed.
In other news, my dad got a letter last weekend saying that he can no longer be on the fire department. I can't really go into the reasons why, but basically it has a lot to do with his health. Being on the fire department was my dad's "life"! He had been on the department since I was in grade school and loved going on calls!! I think he's doing alright with the new void this has left. I personally cried for about two days when I found out. I knew it was going to have to happen at some point, I just feel sad for my dad and wish his health could be better. Maybe having a grandson will bring something new to his life.

What A Summer This Has Been

Of course it's been awhile since I had a post on here. In the time since my last entry a lot has happened!! First, of all I got my car back finally and it runs great! The had to put a new engine in which is no small payment! Looks like I will have my car another 3-5 years to get the engine part payed off! At least I have a car to drive now which is better than no car! "Poor" Rich was having to get up early to take me to work, so I know he's glad I have the car back.
I'm taking swim aerobics this summer. I love the class!! They have it in the evening for 45 minutes and let me tell you by the time we're done, I'm tired. The other night was our hardest night as the things we were doing probably equal to lifting weights. I wish we had an indoor pool with the class offered year round! Maybe someday we will.
We have started our summer camp at work for the kids. It has been fun so far, but we are so busy with kids! We have so many it seems in our program this summer. Makes the work day go a lot faster when we can get out and do things with the kids.
Our biggest news is that Rich and I were selected for a child to adopt! We have been working on this for over a year now, but really hadn't said anything to anyone because it was taking so long. We still won't have anything legal for about a year, but we are finally moving forward! The child we were selected for was actually on my caseload at one time.. He is 12 and is from around the area. He has been spending time with us on a regular basis and seems to be getting comfortable with everything. Please pray that this will continue to go smooth and that everything will work out for all of us.
